Make the perfect sushi rice

Image
How to make the perfect sushi rice: Ingredients: 1 cup of Kaneyama Sushi Rice  1 1/2 cups Water (The ratio is about 1:1.25) Start by cleaning the sushi rice at least 4 times till water runs clear by swishing the rice in water and draining. After the final drain add the cleaned rice to a small pot. Let the rice soak in the water for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes cover and cook over medium heat until it starts to boil. After it starts to boil turn it down to low and let sit for 13 minutes or until the water is gone / not visible. After 13 minutes take off the burner and let sit for 10 minutes leaving the cover on the steam. After that, you have perfect sushi rice. I would recommend pairing with seaweed and your favorite sushi toppings. This is the first time I have been able to make sushi rice all on my own. There are tons of recipes that tell you all different things on how to do it and it has never worked out for me. I know this is more specific in ingredients but if you want to mak...

Veggie Bowl Food Truck Review

Image
There are two known veggie bowl locations and I decided to adventure off to Oregon City and try the newly added food truck.  The first time I went there I got the Hearty Veggie West which contained brown rice, quinoa, kale, tomatoes, mixed greens, avocado, black beans, black olives, flaxseed, cilantro, and Richi's Sauce. However I did remove the quinoa, kale, and flax seed knowing full well I would not enjoy them. And then added their Teriyaki Soy Curls, which if I had to say something they are known for it would be this.  Honestly, it turned out way better than I expected. Everything was fresh and tasted great and I was really happy with the one that I choose knowing I like all those other ingredients. And the soy curls tasted great, they say they taste like chicken which I don't entirely agree but to be fair I haven't had chicken in years. But there was nothing off-putting about the texture, which is a big thing for me I am very picky about texture, and I genuinely re...

Crunchy Salad Recipe

Image
This recipe is based on a previous recipe on my blog, as well as a recipe I have made my entire life. Not sure where we got it, all I remember is this was in my grandma's recipe book but I have made some improvements and changes over the years. I have had this my whole life and it will forever be one of my favorite dishes. This is the new and improved small-batch, which makes about two hearty bowls. Ingredients: 1 pack of coleslaw mix (non-sauce) 2 packs of crushed ramen (no seasoning) 1 bundle of  green onions, chopped 1 pack of cooked Sweet Earth "Chicken" strips 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of black pepper 5 tables spoons of sugar 2 tablespoons of vinegar 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil Cook the chicken, chop the onion, crush the ramen and add everything into a bit dish. Mix and you have your salad. And perfection.

Venti’s Review

Image
Vegan:  The avocado ranch I didn’t care for, it had a weird aftertaste. The nachos I loved the cheese but you could tell the guacamole was frozen. If I got it again I’d do the vegan cheese but substitute the guacamole for fresh avocados. The fries were good. I got the Korean bbq bowl and it wasn’t what I expected. It was edible didn’t have a strong bbq taste so it was disappointing. The chicken tenders had an after taste which was weird because we have had that kind before not sure what they did to it. I noticed they put their own batter on top of the gardin chicken. I tired a small piece of the mushroom lentil burger and I liked it I’ll probably order it next time.  Vegetarian: The mushroom lentil burger was absolutely amazing I definitely want it again and would absolutely recommend it. The fries were good classic fries. The ranch and avocado ranch had a lot of dill in it, and I like dill but it was too much. I thought the chicken tenders were alright and I did enjoy stealin...

Native Foods Review

Image
Vegan: I liked the bbq salad I got, it does need to be mixed because the bbq is at the bottom and I got confused about the bacon. I really liked it, I would get it again and I’d recommend it to anyone and it’s pretty big I’d probably share it with someone. I didn’t care for the peanut butter pudding cup, it wasn’t sweet, I would suggest it to anyone but it was edible. I’d like to go back and try some new things and see if there are other things I like. I like that it’s in an outside mall so it’s nice for when you with other people that may not want to eat there with you.  Vegetarian:  I liked the crispy chicken wrap it was really tasty, their ranch was really good I’d highly recommend it. I wasn’t a huge fan of the lettuce but that’s a personal preference, I’d definitely get the chicken and ranch again maybe in a different dish. I was really excited about the pudding but it was really disappointing, it wasn’t sweet at all the chocolate chips were just bitter. I wouldn’t recomm...

Veggie Grill Review

Image
This time we will be doing it by food because we got a whole bunch of food to try and we are with the whole family. So this post will be all over the place since so many people will be commenting. Each period will be the end of a thought. Brownie:  Was good. Tasted like a regular good brownie. Crumbly. Yummm. A non-vegan person likes it. The baby also really enjoyed it. Mac and cheese: the baby liked it a lot, I liked that it was dairy-free just like the restaurant. It was a good portion size for a toddler, it wasn’t too much or too little.  Blt: I liked how different it was because it had a vegan pesto which made it new. I felt they needed to add more vegan bacon. But other than that really good. Mashed potatoes: I really really liked their version of mashed potatoes it was made of cauliflower. Things that were good: mandarin oranges. sweet potatoes fries. Ranch. Pepper Sause. Buffalo (but gotta be craving it). Sweet orange sauce.  Wings (chicken fingers): these were my ...

Blue Star Donuts Review

Image
Vegan: The first one I tried was blueberry and I was surprised there was basil, couldn’t taste it but I liked that it was in it. The other donut was good and I liked it but I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t like spices since it has cyan, but I’d eat it again. I liked that the guy at the register was friendly and nice, the place was clean, and I liked how they make their donuts, they talked about their company on the wall I liked that, especially the cooking in rice oil. And he was friendly when we asked for a card, he didn’t have one but he handed us their menu with other donuts as pictured. I also liked that it was near the hospital where we go weekly so easy to access for us. Vegetarian: The place was open and bright, very welcoming, I actually went in on a whim hoping they’d have some vegan donuts, someone was in front of me but as I was looking at the donuts I saw a “V” which lots of places just write for vegetarian. So I asked and he said it stood for vegan and went on to defe...

Perky Jerky Review

Image
Vegetarian:  The flavor is okay but not exactly what I think of when I think of beef jerky. The texture is pretty spot on. But the shape and look are a little displeasing but so is regular jerky. I wouldn’t buy or ask for it again, it was a cool thing to try, but not something I’d ever really want but if offered I’d eat. But to take into consideration I don’t think I’ve ever craved beef jerky, as well as I, have never bought or asked directly for beef jerky so I guess I’d say it wasn’t any better or worse than regular jerky except for the fact that no animal was harmed which is good. I’d say a 5/10 Because it wasn’t great nor was it bad.  Vegan:  It’s good but very little for the price, the texture is pretty close to real jerky, has good flavor but a little dry, but beef jerky is supposed to be like that. It’s also gluten-free so that’s good. You can find it at Safeway, there are only 2 servings. If I was really craving jerky I would buy it but I’d really have to be cravi...

Why Safeway?

Image
We do a lot of vegan and vegetarian shopping due to my family eating pretty much only that. In our Safeway, there are a few sections to find items you'll need. There is one small vegan meat section right in between the fresh-cut meat and the packaged meat right at the end of the display case thing. Recently they added a few more items including impossible meat which is super excited and absolutely delicious. But they also added this green packaged. Which if you take a minute to read it you'll actually find that it's not vegetarian at all, its just ground beef with some extra added vegetables. If you look at the second photo you can see that the fake and real meat have a line that is very obvious, and actually, the square packaged meat to the right of the green is fake meat. So this real meat blend is right in the center of the fake meat. these pictures I took a while ago and it's still like this. It makes me upset because I almost put it in my cart because if it's i...

Burgerville Bliss Shake Review

Image
Vegan:  I got the Oregon strawberry bliss shake. Definitely can taste the coconut good for a hot day, feels hydrating. I definitely would get it again. But 16 oz is not enough. I like how it’s thick so it won’t melt as fast like regular ice cream (even vegan ones) Because we had to drive a few towns over and we were worried it wouldn’t last all the way home for a person who couldn’t leave the house. I wish there was a burger Ville closer. It’s more hydrating than most shakes like Dairy Queen, I wish more places were doing vegan shakes. Vegetarian:  I got the Almond butter and jam bliss shake. I think it tastes pretty good, very thick and the coconut is very powerful in flavor. I normally don’t like coconut but this one isn’t bad. The jam was placed on top in a little dollop and I mixed it in but I wish there was more jam. I’d probably get this again if it was offered but for the price I wouldn't go out and get it myself, to be fair I never buy ice cream or shakes they ...

The Best Green Tea Recipe

Image
This is how I make my tea, I usually drink a 2-quart peach mango green tea pack so I can stay hydrated. But when I drink it all and don't want to make an entire new 2-quart drink I make some tea with tea bags. I used to only drink black tea because that's what my family would buy but I realize green tea is my favorite. I recently got a cute tea tumbler that has a silver tea strainer at the bottom of the bottle by fabfitfun. Which makes making tea so much easier, I would highly recommend. Youll need Green Tea (I got a pack of 100 from dollar tree) Splenda Hot water Ice (if you like cold tea which I do) This is how I make my tea, obviously, you can change it in any way. And the measurements i use are based on my tumbler, I could probably do less or more of some stuff but I like how it tastes and I don't want it any other way, for now. First I heat up 2 cups of water ion a measuring cup for 2 minutes. I prepare my Tumblr by adding 3 dollar tree tea bags in the bot...

Woodburn Panera Review

Image
Vegetarian: We got a grilled cheese and tomato soup bread bowl. The grilled cheese was good I’d definitely get it again, nothing special but was a good classic grilled cheese. The tomato soup was probably the best I’ve ever had though I don’t have many tomato soups, I mainly got it to go with the grilled cheese so getting such a big amount was a mistake on my part. The bread bowl was good I’d probably not get it again with that soup because it was just a lot. I liked how the cashier was nice and answered all our questions and wasn’t rushing us. She also gave my sister a cookie which I get to eat most of so I’m okay with that. My rating would be, for today, 4/10 the price was a lot and the grilled cheese was good but because I don’t go there I didn’t know the size and I got half. The portions were not what I was aiming for. If I went again I’d get a full sandwich and a small, small tomato soup. Vegan: We tried the 10 veggie soup in a bread bowl and Mediterranean veggie sandwich wit...
